Blood Angels 2000 point Mechanised list


I was reading Mercer's blog, Imperius Dominatus, and he had posted some Blood Angels army lists for me. One of these got me thinking, he had already done a mech list, so I decided to expand on his idea. Off I went with codex in hand to come up with something which could really scare your opposition.



The resulting list has 6 predators as well as 5 razorbacks. The troops inside the razorbacks are packing enough melta and plasma weapons to deal with any target which get past the armoured unit.

The only real drawback with this list is the lack of infantry units and the small size of the squads that are available.

  1. Not bad mate. Though the H.G is the only unit with a lascannon Razorback so that will get targetted first. You need several for target saturation and unit redundancy. Also with the H.G you have to get out to fire all those plasmas, it's a risk so make sure everything is dead before you get out ;)

    I'd drop the power fists on sgts too. You'll die in combat anyway and more than likely before that fist swings.

  2. If I ran this army I'd run the Preds in front of the transports to act as a mobile shield while the razorbacks took any objectives.

  3. Question - do you plan on staying in your tanks all game? Or are you likely to jump out and try and smack thing?

  4. The assault squads will only de-bus if there is an imminent threat. Other than that they will pretty much sit inside drinking beer and eating pretzels.

In that case I think your libby would be better served by Shield of Sanguinius than The Sanguine Sword (since assault is your last resort) as the cover save can help extend the survivability of your Predators (and by extension your Razors). On the same note - you will have to disembark to use your Blood Lance which can leave him vulnerable. Sanguinary Priests are also not as necessary, since you are relying on the protection of your hulls to keep you alive.

    Also, as Mercer pointed out those power fists would probably never see much action either. Maybe lightning claws instead to strike at Initiative?

    If you dropped a Priest or two, and downgraded some of your fists - you could field a fifth Assault Squad maybe? Or upgrade some of your Razors to Las/Plas (or whatever you fancy)...

    On the tank side 6 (fast) Predator Hulls is nice. But I am not fond of the Twin-linked Lascannon/Heavy Bolter Predator. Either you are shooting infantry and the TL Lascannon is wasted, or shooting tanks and the Heavy Bolters are useless. A third Auto/Las Predator would be better I think as you have plenty of anti-infantry in your 3 Baal Preds and 4 Heavy Bolter Razors anyway...

  6. Don't be discouraged by my lengthy comments though... I actually quite like this list and look forward to seeing how it works for you, as it's something I wouldn't really field myself (I play pure jump angels - I don't even own a single tank...). I think if you have the models to do it, you should definitely give it a shot...

  7. This is more of a dream list at the minute. I've got to save some serious money before I'll be able to field it.

    But having faced massed mech lists I think that the fact that blood angels can field this number of fast tanks would allow them to compete with a massed eldar mech army, and run rings around guard and other marines.
