1000 point lists.

I was chatting with Mark (Mercer) the other day and he suggested it might be interesting if he brought his friend Craig (Croggy) round for a game, just to give us a bit of a change. Also it would give all the idiots on Dakka somebody else to bitch at (sorry Craig but me and Mark seem to attrat them)

So after same chatting we thought it might be interesting do go for a 2 vs 1 game (we all know who'll be on there own for that one haha haha).

This brings me onto the main subject of this post, I thought I'd put my possible lists on here to get some feedback on what people thought of them.

Lets start with the shortest my Gay Knights (oops I meant Grey Knights LOL)

1000 Pts  -   Daemonhunters Army

1 Grey Knight Grand Master (HQ) @ 369 Pts
     Nemesis Force Halberd; Storm Bolter
     #Terminator Armour [0]
     Icon of the Just [25]

4 Grey Knight Terminator Retinue @ [199] Pts
Nemesis & Incinerator (x1); Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter (x3)

4 Grey Knights (Troops) @ 175 Pts
Psycannon (x1); Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter

     1 Grey Knight Justicar @ [50] Pts
          Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter

4 Grey Knights (Troops) @ 175 Pts
Psycannon (x1); Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter

     1 Grey Knight Justicar @ [50] Pts
          Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter

9 Grey Knights (Troops) @ 275 Pts
     Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter

     1 Grey Knight Justicar @ [50] Pts
          Nemesis FW; Storm Bolter

Models in Army: 25

Total Army Cost: 994

This list is VERY low on numbers and has limited mobility, I'd need Craig to bring some serious firepower and threat units to allow me to get into CC where I'd be at my best. The problem is Mark is good with target priority and so I would probably find myself up the creek without a paddle (really don't want to be tabled again). Also with no heavy weapons I'll be relying on Craig dealing with any armour Mark brings.

And for my next list the Blood Angels.

1000 Pts  -   Blood Angels Army

1 Reclusiarch (HQ) @ 170 Pts
     Jump Pack; Infernus Pistol; Crozius Arcanum; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades;
     Rosarius

1 Sanguinary Priest (Elites) @ 150 Pts
Jump Pack; Bolt Pistol (x1); Close Combat Weapon (x1); Frag Grenades; Krak
     Grenades; Blood Chalice

     1 Sanguinary Priest #1 @ [75] Pts
          Jump Pack; Bolt Pistol (x1); Close Combat Weapon (x1); Frag Grenades;
          Krak Grenades; Blood Chalice

9 Assault Squad (Troops) @ 235 Pts
     Meltagun & CCW (x2); Combat Squads; Bolt Pistol & CCW (x9); Frag Grenades;
     Krak Grenades; Jump Packs

     1 Space Marine Sergeant @ [53] Pts
Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Power Fist; Bolt Pistol; Jump Packs

9 Assault Squad (Troops) @ 235 Pts
     Meltagun & CCW (x2); Combat Squads; Bolt Pistol & CCW (x9); Frag Grenades;
     Krak Grenades; Jump Packs

     1 Space Marine Sergeant @ [53] Pts
Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Power Fist; Bolt Pistol; Jump Packs

9 Devastator Squad (Heavy Support) @ 210 Pts
Combat Squads; Bolt Pistol (x9); Bolter (x5); Missile Launcher (x4); Frag
     Grenades; Krak Grenades

     1 Space Marine Sergeant @ [26] Pts
#Signum; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Bolter; Bolt Pistol

Models in Army: 33

Total Army Cost: 1000

OK again low on bodies but this list packs a lot more anti-armour and mobility. With priests in there I also get a bit more survivability so I should be able to get the boys into the fight and the reclusiarch will get me re-rolling in CC giving me more hitting power with less men.

Guys let me know what you think, all comments and advice welcome.

  1. I don't know Daemon Hunters so well, but seems like a good list. Lots of Stormbolter shots going out, but like you said - the anti-tank is almost non-existant...

The Blood Angels list is very good however, I really like it. Devs are not really my thing (I like HG and VV), but they are still definitely a good choice, and probably the more viable option at this points level... About the only thing I would probably do different is to take a libby instead of the Reclusiarch for psyhic defence, Unleash Rage to keep the rerolls, and either Lance of Shield. But the Reclusiarch is still very nice...

Well done on your lists... Do you know who Mercer is going to take??

  2. Not sure yet but you can be sure it will have plenty of mech units.

Let's just hope we don't end up attracting the same readers as last time though.

  3. Yeah, that Black Blow Fly fella is an ass...

Just a question - are my comments regarding your Blood Angels lists helpful to you? Do they sync with your game style? Or am I on another page altogether?

Just asking, because you don't give a lot of feedback when I say something. So I'm not sure if it's because I am talking nonsense from your POV, or if maybe you are just the silent type. I hope it is the latter, but sometimes I wonder if it isn't the former...

I guess it just because I am used to getting into some prolonged and active conversations about lists and units (mainly with Mercer), and just want to know if I am being of assistance, or am I merely making a nuisance of myself...

  4. Don't worry I do appreciate your responses.

It's just it can be difficult to get time to respond to all the posts (wife and FIVE kids to deal with).

As for the libby I'm not a big fan as the powers aren't always going to go off (have you not noticed my luck with dice).

Mecer doesn't go for a lot of psychic attacks so the points would be wasted on a libby for psychic defence.

  5. It's all good. Was just making sure...

Yeah, the Reclusiarch is still good, and better in combat too...

  6. Epistolary (HQ) @ 190 Pts
#Psychic Hood; Jump Pack; Unleash Rage; Shield of Sanguinius; Infernus
Pistol; Force Weapon; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades

A libby is a good choice in bigger games but at 1000 points the extra 20 points is a bit too much to pay.

Personally I'd rather take the cheaper HQ and use those points to get another body in the dev squad.

HG and VV are good units but again they are expensive for the number of men you get and again at 1000 points you need every man you can get.

With the assault squads packing melta's already there isn't the need for them.

As you said the reclusiarch is better in combat which is where I'm going to need him and he get a 4++ save which means he's going to last longer than the libby even with shield (5++).

Mercer I was checking the BA FAQ and from what I read it looks like the libby can assault after using lance.

"Q: Blood Lance is a psychic shooting attack that can hit
multiple units. If the Librarian wishes to assault after
using Blood Lance, which unit(s) is he permitted to
    assault?
A: Only the first unit hit by the Blood Lance."

An assault lance weapon AWESOME. :0)

  7. I wouldn't take the Epistolary upgrade though... especially at 1000pts

My reasoning was noted in your last army list post (the 2600pt one I believe), so I won't go into it again here (it was rather long winded and I should be in bed already), but if you dropped it he would be only 140pts, giving you 30pts over the Relusiarch... Libby also has the advantage that Unleash Rage can be used each and every turn - not just on the charge... If your chaplain escorted squad gets charged, his main advantage has been lost...

Like I said - at this points level Devs are probably the better option anyway... :D ... I just don't really use them personally...

I like Vanguard for the drop charge to tie up units that I consider a threat (mainly heavy shooty units). If they kill something - even better (I generally take a fairly basic squad - so 165pts with packs)

I like HG for reliable anti-AV14, or mass flamers/plasma... Less guys vs ASM, but inbuilt priest and more special weapons... again I like to drop them and nuke something...

But they can both be expensive options, so stick with the devs for now. Make sure you coordinate your list with your ally though. You don't want to show up with two lists that just don't mesh well - you need some synergy. Maybe even see if you can come up with some team tactics...

  8. As I said at the start - your initial Blood Angels list is good. Stick with it (if you are indeed using that one), and you will do okay.
Before you go though, think about how you want to use your force. Remember what you have learned - both from Mercer and elsewhere. Have an idea how you want your army to function. Think in advance how you might like to deploy your army. Make notes if you have to, and take them with you on the day. And on the day, remember the things you have come up with. Don't let the pressure of the situation throw you off. Stay calm and focused.

But most importatnly of all - have fun... ;)

  9. I wonder who will be on there own? boo hoo! :(

Blood Angels list (yes I spelt it wrong on purpose, I'm not a 'Tard!) looks the best.

  10. Poor Mercer, would you like a hug? LOL

I think I'll be using the Blood Angels list if Craig is up for it.

Just hope he brings some shooty goodness to the party.
